Creating awareness as an important step towards minimizing climate risks
Greater transparency for you and us with the CDP Score Report
In order to manage and improve, we first need to measure, because without knowing our impact on climate change we cannot fully exploit opportunities or mitigate risks.
For this reason, we map our carbon footprint and participate in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). The combination of our emissions figures and the CDP Score Report enables us to identify specific potential for reductions and to tackle the areas of our climate management that require particular attention. Through benchmarking and comparison with competitors, we are able to continually improve our climate policy and to share it easily with our business partners. If you are interested in our CDP Score Report and the measures we are taking, feel free to get in touch.
Carbon footprint – identifying, analyzing and taking action
In the calculation of our carbon footprint, it is easy for us as a chemicals distributor to identify scope 1 and scope 2 of our greenhouse gas emissions. Here, we also work on the basis of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and use the findings from the analysis to identify potential savings and to make our contribution to the 1.5° C target.
The real leverage, however, lies in our scope 3, in the emissions from products we trade and along the supply chain. Merely identifying the emissions here is a major challenge that we are tackling step by step. This year, we are expanding our annual calculation and analysis to include key product groups in our portfolio as well as logistics activities. Our goal is clear: full transparency including on scope 3, so that we can work purposefully on expanding our sustainable portfolio and increasingly switch to lower-emission transport options. As previously, we are also offsetting our emissions and supporting selected climate protection projects. If you want to learn more, feel free to get in touch.
Corporate volunteering – another building block of sustainability at TER Chemicals
We last reported on the third pillar of sustainability at TER Chemicals, the sustainable organization, by sharing our corporate volunteering activities with WeField e.V.
The trees have been planted, and while our colleagues were getting their hands dirty for the climate, we were surprised by a television crew from NDR. You can watch the report here.
Another great project that our employees support is the language mentor project run by the association Hamburger* mit Herz e.V.
The energetic volunteers have already supported several refugees from different countries with learning and speaking German.
